Importance of Social Media Marketing

A start-up's inception is like the beginning of a huge roller-coaster ride, it's smooth and calm and with the right resources( in which marketing plays a big role) you elevate and reach big goals and dreams but then something goes wrong and everything comes tumbling down with a rush and the cycle continues.

We don't want that,do we?

A start-up becomes successful when people start noticing it and what better platform do we have other social media? It's widespread, its economical and most of all, everybody knows how to use it.

Who doesn't use social media today? Be it the entertainment news or the ongoing issues around the world, or if you're looking for information, social media disappoints nobody. It's a single door to a world full of possibilities.

The importance of social media for the general public is as a platform where they could voice their opinions and converse with friends across the globe, we are left with the question of how we can transfer this to the commercial and business context. Can social media be used as a marketing platform?

Why not?

Social media marketing has become an essential part of online marketing strategy among small businesses because of its cost-effectiveness, ability to reach targeted audiences quickly and generate more leads/sales.Don't believe us? Look at these facts-
2013 has been the year of the tech company. LinkedIn has surged over 100%Twitter has popped more than 70% and 80% respectively on the day of their recent IPOs. Even Facebook’s stock, once completely out of favor, has doubled in value over the past six months.16% of Stanford’s MBA Class of 2011 chose to start their own companies at graduation, eclipsing the previous high of 12% during the dot-com bubble.

Marketing on social media also sets a base for a strong customer-seller relationship. One always finds himself on the internet, in case of searching for information. Therefore, social media is a profound platform for customers to directly contact the seller and state their appreciations or concerns. Through this way, you'll always know when your services are running low and what could be done to solve the problem.

Another predominant trend that emerging startups are following is searching for a start-up idea that is quite unique. Subsequently, they waste a huge amount of time finding resources for it's promotion. It is not always the idea that matters, it's the way you make it notice among people. And it's perfectly alright if your idea of a startup matches with someone else's, just like Picasso said "Good artists copy, great artists steal."

Can the Entrepreneurial Spirit of youngsters change the world?

India’s face is changing fast and the driving force behind it is its young generation. Rather than being  content with a well paying job, many graduates are charting their own path and finding ways to fund  their aspirations. And, these aspirations are getting more individualistic, passionate and defined. Add to that, an appreciation of hard work has enabled the young generation to start their ventures  instead of taking the old conventional route. One fine example is the 33-year old tech billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, who has revolutionized the way  world communicates and also launched Internet.org to provide free basic mobile Internet  service across the globe -- even in the poorest and most remote areas. Women aren’t behind when it  comes to the entrepreneurial spirit. For instance, Yasmin Helal of Egypt, a former pro-basketball  player and engineer, runs Educate-Me, an initiative in Cairo that works to provide education to  underpriv...

Start Early, Fail Early

“ Do the one thing you think you cannot do. Fail at it. Try again. Do better the second time. The only people who never tumble are those who never mount the high wire. This is your moment. Own it ” - Oprah Winfrey Photo Credit: https://www.crowdfunder.com/blog/the-3-reasons-founders-fail-at-fundraising/ If you ask me what I regret the most, then my answer would be, “not starting early and not failing early”. I did my first internship when I was 20 years old, I started my first full-time job when I was 22, I created my first business-plan when I was 26 and I started my first venture when I was 27. Now, when I look back I feel that not starting early and not failing early is one of the biggest mistakes one can make in his life. Probably I could have started my entrepreneurship journey when I was 20, failed and learned harsh realities by the time I was 22. When I see young kids going for the secure, high-paying internships or jobs in big companies/ brand names, I ask mysel...
